Fishing the Internet
The Internet brings us huge benefits in fishing information – the incredible Google map service, for example. We anglers
can even access specialized fishing maps, through Google or otherwise, that can really help when fishing unfamiliar territory.
These maps can usually be viewed online or printed for your fishing vest pocket.
Here are some suggested references:
For
free pool maps of Nova Scotia’s St. Mary’s River, Pictou and Antigonish Counties, and Lunenburg County’s
Gold River, see:

For free maps of many wonderful rivers of New Brunswick, see:

Another great resource for anglers is one that shows stream water levels, Environment
Canada’s “real-time hydrometric data website”:
http://www.wateroffice.ec.gc.ca
“The near real-time information presented on this website is received via satellite or land-line transmissions from
hydrometric gauging stations owned by Environment Canada and its Partners. These data are normally posted (in graphical form)
within four hours of observation.”
Here’s a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) site that tells us how much rain fell in various Nova Scotia locations
during the past 24 hrs, in mm "RN24 mm":

Now, here’s a new salmon fly for your consideration, highly recommended for New Brunswick’s
Miramichi River.
