Hot & Inexpensive Fishing Gifts

Here’s some under $50 gifts made right here in Nova Scotia. They’re available at our local fly shop, a great shopping alternative to getting malled.

The Nova Scotia Fly is our official provincial fishing fly, designed and tied by Bill Carpan of Stillwater, NS. Tied on gold hooks, it is available as a hat /lapel pin or fly. A gift card gives the fly’s background and significance to Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia fishers like them, and they are a great NS souvenir for “folks from away”.
 

The book, The Legend of the MacIntosh Dry Fly, by Stillwater Slim, is a new edition, with additional text and photos, many in color. The book shows Nova Scotia history at its best, Stillwater in particular. It’s also an essential read for all fly fishers.

Boxes of trout or salmon flies are a welcome gift for fly fishers.  These flies are all tied in Nova Scotia, no imports! Tyers include Parker Wong, Jim McCoul, Damian Welsh, Bill Williams, Bill Carpan, Mike Bingley and Reid Mason.

The book Atlantic Salmon, by Paul C. Marriner of Mahone Bay, NS, is a great gift for a salmon angler. It includes a photo of a 1960’s fishing scene (Ford Pool, St. Mary’s River), sure to refresh memories. This great photo is by the author and is included herein.
