Royal Mannix |
|
Designed & tied by Bill Carpan in 2007 |
Above is a fly called the
“Royal Mannix” that I designed & tied in 2007.Inspiration
for the design is from British Atlantic salmon flies from Victorian times, such as the “Green Highlander”.
I tied this fly much later, in Nova Scotia (the colonies)
with a "Kelson style" wing.
Making
time (about 2 days) to tie a fly like this actually seems more difficult than making the fly.
Periodically though, I find it necessary to travel in my mind to a different time and
place, experiencing the relaxation and pure joy of tying such a fly.
Being able to work with these exquisite natural materials is a real honor, enabling me to experience nature’s
harmony.
The completed fly
is a souvenir of the journey.
Thank
you, Bill Carpan
